ROBERT MARNIKA (Photographer)
Born in Zadar, Croatia, in 1966.
He discovered his love for photography at the age of 20, in Zagreb. In 1993, after war in Croatia, he moved to Italy; in 1995 he settled in Bologna, where he is still living and working as a freelance photographer and photography trainer.
First Prize as Best Portfolio in the photo contest "Fotoleggendo", Rome 2006, with "Memory Fragments", reportage on the direct experience of war in Croatia. Since May 2009 the same work is published as a documentary book in hardback format called "ZADAR 1991". His résumé includes above 40 exhibitions and several published works. His last project called "Visits", "Going Through", "The Guest" is a survey about changes and contradictions in his mother country.
RITA CHESSA (Assistant)
Born in Sassari in 1978.
She degreed in Painting at the College of Art in her hometown, and completed her higher education with the degree course in Drama, Art and Music Studies (DAMS) at the University of Bologna, where she still lives and works. Her research, tightly connected with history of art, focuses on social themes through photography and other means. Her main fields of interest and work are history of art and picture reading. She has been coordinator for Visual Arts at the "Asuni 2008" Culture Festival. For the last two years she has been working with photographer R. Marnika at the organization of Summer courses and group exhibitions.
