Photo Workshop in Croatia
< It is our pleasure to announce that you can now apply for the 8th Photo workshop, to be held during Summer in the uncontaminated Croatian island of SESTRUNJ, near ZADAR.
The course is directed to every expert or beginner, wishing to improve his or her skills in digital and/or analogue photography, as well as to learn tips and tricks about development techniques, black and white printing, outdoor and underwater shooting. Furthermore, the course aims at helping participants to produce a complete, personal photography portfolio.
Our goal is to build a mixed working group, combining the skills of each participant, and create a common ground for personal growth and development.
No man is an island unto himself… but an island is just the ideal environment to be "away from it all" and unwind. Tranquillity, peace, few inhabitants and plenty of nature: that is what you can expect in Sestrunj.
The workshop will focus in particular on analogue, daily photographic work, which will take concrete shape with photos being developed and printed in the darkrooms set up for the occasion.
Film, paper, and everything needed for the course will be provided.
Every participant should bring his or her own analogue reflex camera; otherwise it will be possible to borrow one. Nevertheless, there will be some training sessions on the use of the digital reflex camera, too.
The course covers following subjects:
- Understanding and using the analogue camera
- Use of the digital camera; general introduction to image processing software (Photoshop, Ligthroom, etc..)
- Lightning methods: natural and artificial light
- Developing and printing black and white photos in a darkroom
- Theoretical aspects and photography techniques
- Visual perception, picture reading with reference to History of Art and Photography.
At the same time, the course is also intended to be a holiday, where everybody contributes to creating a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Alongside with the workshop, photo tours to the other islands of the archipelago are on the schedule, above all to explore the seabed and try underwater photography, sometimes embarking with fishermen to capture their skills and experiences. Finally, on the last evening, a small photographic exhibition will be set up in the town centre, displaying black and white shots taken during the week.
At the end of courses, once back in Italy, Bologna will be hosting a retrospective exhibition in a dedicated space.
Every photo workshop is intended for only FIVE PEOPLE at a time. Participants will arrive in Zadar on Saturday morning, and will stay until dawn of following Friday.
Period covered: July - September 2009
Applications allowed until July 15th, 2009
